POSITION: Credit Analyst
REPORTING TO: Manager Credit Administration
Job Purpose Statement
Assess the creditworthiness of borrowers, identify potential risks associated with the credit proposals, and provide an opinion and recommendations for credit committee approval. This shall involve;
- Adequately assess loan applications and make appropriate recommendations for credit committee approval.
- Conduct regular training sessions on credit risk management and ensure RMs and AOs have best practice underwriting skills.
- Advising the appropriate structure of credit facilities based on the customer’s business needs.
- Review and recommend, defer, or decline credit applications to ensure credit decisions align with the bank’s risk appetite and credit policy.
- Analyze credit applications and recommend risk mitigation strategies, including diversification, credit enhancements, and structured finance solutions.
- Deliver meaningful, detailed credit analysis while providing efficient, timely service to RMs and AOs.
- Identify training needs of RMs and AOs and work with the Head to recommend appropriate credit up-skilling.
- Report to the Manager Credit Administration findings that may have an adverse effect on loan collateral or a borrower’s ability to repay the loan.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of the Banks’ lending policies and procedures and identify exceptions to policy.
- Identify any documentation deficiencies and report to RMs and AO’s for timely resolution.
- Ensure quick turnaround of credit requests and update the Credit application tracker daily.
- Set appropriate interest rates and fees structures that balance risk and return for the bank.
- Analyze the clients’ financial trends and debt structures and evaluate the impact of additional credit on the financial health of the borrowers.
- Comply with AML/CFT policies and procedures.

Ideal Job Specifications |
- Degree in Finance, Business, Economics or a related field.
- Professional Certifications are an added advantage
- At least 5 years of credit risk analysis experience in a financial institution.
- Experience in relationship or credit risk analysis.
- Experience in presenting credit risk findings and recommendations to credit committees.
- Strong analytical skills
- A high level of attention to detail
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal)
